Hand dryers are creating new possibilities for making restrooms cleaner and healthier.

One technology works as a hand dryer with two speeds for standard and quiet environments, physical filter media for capturing particles, and a 24/7 intermittent UV-C light air purification and internal germ-killing cycle that runs when the unit is not being used to dry hands.

A performance report by the TUV lab, found the UV-C light is effective at killing airborne microbes when run for two hours in a small space; which may provide a practical benefit of reducing overall airborne pathogen levels, especially when several units are present in a restroom.

The hand dryer may also provide a sustainability benefit with an annual estimated energy use of $26.00 versus an estimated paper towel cost of $450.00.

Bottom line: Since you must dry your hands after washing them, cleaning the air in the restroom using the same device may be a double win.
