What Kind of Learning Dog are You? Pointer or Golden Retriever?

Pointer

A pointer is a dog trained to point out the location of game for hunters. Pointers are focused, alert, and energetic. They have a strong sense of smell and sight, and they can work well in different terrains and climates.

Knowledge Pointers are quick to point to content they have seen, heard or read about. This is their strength: They are good at identifying knowledge “game” to hunt, but not capturing it.

Golden Retriever

A golden retriever is a dog bred to retrieve game for hunters. Golden retrievers are friendly, intelligent, and obedient. They have a water-repellent coat and a gentle mouth that does not harm the game.

Knowledge Retrievers are good at retrieving knowledge “game” and are a very desirable breed for they are practiced and skilled at retrieving knowledge, one of the most important practices for long-term learning.

Why Retrieving is Golden

“Practice at retrieving new knowledge or skill from memory is a potent tool for learning and durable retention. This is true for anything the brain is asked to remember and call up again in the future—facts, complex concepts, problem-solving techniques, motor skills.”
