Tapping subject matter experts (SMEs) can help raise awareness, add authority to sales messages, reinforce the value of product training, and lower the cost of customer acquisition and retention.

This can include:

1. Classroom training: Onsite or virtual to provide a solid foundation re: cleaning principles, techniques, and product innovation, through presentations, lectures, and interactive discussion.

2. Hands-on demonstration: Practical, hands-on training where janitors can learn and practice techniques supervised by experienced trainers and involving SMEs (virtually or in person).

3. Training manuals and guides: Comprehensive training materials, manuals, guides, or handbooks, specifically tailored to client-enabled methods using experienced trainers and involving SMEs (virtually or in person). This may include an Integrated Cleaning and Measurement (ICM) Handbook for markets of interest.

4. Online courses and webinars: Online platforms (e.g., Brainscape) can provide access to training flashcards, modules and webinars for self-paced learning and flexible training options.

5. Guest speakers and SMEs: Selected experts can conduct training sessions or give presentations to management and janitors, sharing insights, best practices, and the latest trends in cleaning; providing knowledge, motivation, and practical ways to achieve goals.

6. On-the-job training: Pair new hires with experienced people/SMEs in-person or virtually for hands-on learning, observation, answering questions or seeking guidance.

7. Refresher courses: Conduct regular refresher courses to reinforce best practices and provide updates.

8. Assessments and certifications: Indoor Health Council can provide virtual assessments to evaluate field performance through its app in development. Certifications can be awarded to acknowledge and reward proficiency.

9. Communication and feedback: Maintain open lines of communication with customers to address questions, concerns, and suggestions. Encourage feedback and a supportive environment.

10. Ongoing education: Encourage janitors to take in-person and virtual personal and professional development workshops to update, inspire and motivate them to adopt and apply their knowledge.
