Wet Mops: “Anti-Clean” and “Anti-Health”

Removal of soils is poorly accomplished by wet mopping with either microfiber or string applicators due to cross-contamination issues (Journal of Hospital Infection, 2008, Applied Microbiology, 1971) and the nature of solutions in mop buckets.

Per CDC: “Bucket solutions become contaminated almost immediately during cleaning, and continued use of the solution transfers increasing numbers of microorganisms to each subsequent surface to be cleaned.” (CDC, 2003)

Researchers reported in Applied Microbiology magazine: “It is our view that the daily painting [mopping] of … floors with thick suspensions of [microorganisms] must be regarded as an unsatisfactory practice.” (Applied Microbiology, 1971)
