How Pressure Washing Helps

It’s no surprise that water under pressure cleans better than a gentle stream.

Following a presoak, commercial car washes have used this method accompanied by agitation, for decades.

Per the study, Removal of biofilms and stubborn soil by pressure washing, “applying a disinfectant, followed by hot water at high pressure produced the greatest … soil removal” when accompanied by scrubbing.

Cold water was less effective than hot water. Also, the study found that biofilms — sticky films produced by germs in colonies — resisted cold water and chemicals alone. See CDC image of staph biofilm below.

On a personal level, plaque on our teeth is a type of biofilm removed by brushing.

Bringing pressure washing indoors can be problematic if you do not have a way to remove the moisture. Machines that apply liquid under pressure and vacuum the solution would seem to solve this problem.
